Do you take custom orders?
No, I do not. Most of the dolls I make are created for my own personal collection. On occasion, I may create an original doll for sale on eBay or other sites.
Why do you need a website and nursery name if you don't take customs?
From time to time, I may choose to create a doll for sale, or sell original dolls from my own collection. I feel that it is important for people to know which artist created these dolls, and my website also offers a chance for me to showcase my work (both past & present).
Have you ever had any other nursery names?
Yes. . . when I first began reborning in 2012, I was Twisted Darlings Dollworx. I later changed to Swanky Booties Art Dolls, and finally to Never Ever Land Nursery (my very close friend, Emmy Hyland, now uses the name Swanky Booties).
Who does the rooting for your babies?
It is not uncommon for artists to send out their dolls to be rooted. As I am unable to root dolls due to a hand injury, all of the babies I paint are rooted by another very talented artist (who also happens to be a close friend of mine).
How much do your dolls cost?
This is a complicated question, because it depends on many things. The kit choice and size of the kit (newborn size is obviously going to be less expensive than a toddler), the type of doll (human, vampire, zombie, etc.), whether the doll has painted or rooted hair, whether the kit has open or closed eyes… all of these things will be considered when determing a price.
Do you offer layaway or payment plans?
In the event that I decide to take a custom order, I require a deposit of half down at the time of purchase, and full payment prior to the doll being shipped. You can make payments while your baby is being created, or you can wait until completion to pay the balance. There may be cases where a baby is listed for sale on eBay or etsy (not a custom order) where I specify that there is no layaway or option for a payment plan, but generally I am happy to work with you. Just ask! (Please note that layaway deposits or payments will NOT be refunded should you change your mind or not be able to fulfill the terms of the layway agreement).
I saw a baby on eBay/etsy/another website. Can you make that same baby for me?
Absolutely not. While I may occasionally replicate the work of other artists for * my own * personal collection, I will not copy or recreate another artist's work for sale. Please do not ask me to do so.
Can you put fangs/faerie ears/wigs or other items on my baby for me?
No, I don't offer this service. It's very tricky to alter a doll that another artist has created (or even that I have created), once it has been completed.
Do you repair or repaint existing reborn dolls?
Again, I have to say no to this one. Since I do not know for certain how another artist has created their doll or what materials they have used, I cannot repair or repaint their work. I also do not offer repairs on my own dolls that I have created unless there was a mistake or problem during the reborning process. In other words, I cannot accept responsibility for a doll once it is created and leaves my studio.
What is used to create the babies?
All of my babies come from a SMOKE FREE home, and are created using vinyl kits designed specifically for reborning. I use Genesis Heat Set paints and mediums to create the lifelike skin coloring and shading, and premium mohair or human hair to root the doll (unless the hair is painted on, or has a wig). The babies are weighted with professional grade recycled glass media and premium polyfil. With larger babies, I may also use poly pellets to add *squishiness* to a doll or steel pellets to add weight. I use glass or soft silicone eyes for most open-eyed sculpts.
Can I ask who purchased a particular doll, or how much they paid?
No. I value the privacy of my customers and I will not share this information. I am happy to discuss a quote with you for creating a similar doll for yourself, but I will not discuss any financial or personal information relating to my customers. To do so would be unprofessional and would violate the trust that my customers have placed in me.
I would like to buy a baby you have for sale on eBay… can you sell it to me privately?
No, I'm sorry but eBay policy prohibits this type of transaction. Once a baby is listed for sale on eBay, I will not be able to remove it for private sale. To do so would put my eBay account at risk. Please don't ask me to do this.
Do you do portrait/memorial reborns?
No, I'm sorry but I don't offer this service.
How long will it take to get my baby?
I will give you a timeframe of when to expect your doll to be finished as soon as your deposit is paid. Please keep in mind that it takes 30-40 hours to complete one doll, and there may be orders ahead of your own (or issues with the shipping of supplies necessary to complete your order), which may delay it further. I try to give accurate estimates on timeframes, but I cannot account for delays which may arise that are out of my control.
I have changed my mind or cannot afford a reborn anymore. Can I get a refund?
No, I do not offer refunds of deposits or payments made towards a custom order doll. When you place your custom order and pay your deposit, you are agreeing to this. The reason for this is that time (and money) is spent creating your perfect baby, and I must receive compensation for this. Please be very sure you want to order (and can afford layaway payments, if applicable) ***before*** placing your order, as no deposits or payments made towards your doll will be refunded if you change your mind or are unable to fulfill the layway agreement.
